Cilla had a good idea. She thought we should buy a package of diapers everytime we go to the store. So we bought a package of Pamers Swaddlers (the diapers our hospital uses on new babies) on our regular Sunday grocery store trip.
I'm not ashamed to say I felt a little freaked out standing on the baby isle at HEB. Normally the only reason I'd even step foot on the baby isle is as a shortcut from the front door to the yogurt. If we get a bag or two of diapers a week until November, I figure that will be a pretty good head start.
I wrote last week about the 'in sickness and in health' part of our wedding vow having significance when I got sick. Yesterday was my turn to take care of Cilla when she got sick.
One of Cilla's fears about being pregnant is her inability to take anything for migraines, should she have one. About 3 weeks ago she started getting headaches again. Yesterday she got a pretty severe headache at work. She tried to come home early, but by the time her replacement could get to work Cilla had decided to call her doctor to find out if there was anything she could take or do to help with the headache and the nausea.
Cilla ended up calling the Labor and Delivery floor in her hospital (one floor above the floor where she works). They called our doctor for us, which was probably much more efficient than if we had called them ourselves since they have all the 'inside' numbers that normal patients don't have. Dr. Tadvick (the on-call doctor for our doctor's practice) told Cilla to go up to Labor and Delivery where they would check on the baby and give Cilla some fluids and some medicine for her vomiting (which also helps with her headache).
We were glad we went up to the L&D floor instead of just taking Cilla home. We got to meet some of the nurses and see how they run their floor. They were very helpful. It's good to know I can take Cilla up to L&D and they will take care of her (next time I'm bringing a book, those IV bags of fluid take a long time to empty). They told us we should feel free to call them with questions, especiall if the situation is emergent on weekends or holidays since they can get in touch with the doctor faster than we can.
The baby's heartbeat was fine. I guess it's good to know Cilla's body is sacrificing her feeling well in order to keep the baby healthy. We had a really easy first trimester (easy for me to say) so we're hopeful these headaches pass quickly.

Today was another monthly check up with my OB. It went very well. He seems very informative and pleasant. I have been having problems with my migraines. I talked with him about this and we discussed seeing a neurologist for a workup and see if he has anything to offer. I will see him on June 8th.
We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was exciting! Like Will said we have seen the baby's heartbeat and seen it move on sonogram but to hear it really does lock in the reality of it all. Everything is going great!

Cilla and I heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time this morning. We’ve seen the heartbeat on sonogram, but this is the first time we’ve heard it. Our doctor seems to feel everything is progressing just fine.

Our friends Angela and Any Gross had their baby. We’re welcoming Aaron Andrew Gross to the world. He weighed 8 lbs 6 oz and was 20 inches long. We can’t wait to meet him.

I got really sick on Wednesday. Sick enough that I ended up leaving work early. At 8:30 I felt fine. At 9:30 I felt kind of ‘blah’. At 10:30 I felt poor enough to leave work. At noon my body had entered full on panic-mode. Whatever was causing the disturbance was being evacuated via the nearest exit, as quickly as possible.
Of course I called Cilla when I got home to let her know I had come home sick. She gave me good nurse-ly advice (take a Tylenol, lie down, drink lots of fluids). I took all the advice except the Tylenol. From now on I’ll listen to my nurse.
By 4:30 I had a really high fever, 104 degrees. I called Cilla again and she told me to take something and try to keep fluids down. Again I ignored the Tylenol, mostly because my head hurt too much to stand up. By 6:30 or so I had the worst headache of my life. I hope I never experience anything like that again. When it was at it’s worst, I only remember thinking, “I hope Cilla gets home soon.”
Poppa included “… in sickness and in health …” in our wedding vows for a reason. It may sound selfish, but I think I appreciated Cilla more on Wednesday when I was sick than any other time in our marriage. I was incapacitated and she took care of me. She took care of critically ill patients all day at the hospital and had enough left over to take care of me.
Thanks for taking care of me, baby. I love you.

Today is Mother's Day. I can't believe that I am finally included! Will has made everyday so far Mother's Day for me. As crummy as I have been feeling and as grumpy as it has made me, he has been sooo supportive!
On this special day, he gave me a precious picture frame made especially for our sonogram picture! It reads, " Before I made you in your mother's womb, I chose you." (Jer. 1:5). A special thanks goes out to our friend Summer who posted the suggestion. He did good!
Happy Mother's Day to all!

I know this is a late entry, however, I have not been feeling up to par lately. I wanted to remember one of the most memorable days of this pregnancy thus far. On May 3, Will and I traveled our last miles to Lubbock for our last sono and doctor's appointment with Dr. Dorsett (until next time). It was bittersweet, but as I've been saying, it sure is nice to have just one doctor now and feel like a normal patient again.
The sonogram, which of course will be posted at a later date, was absolutley the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long time. Baby Wyatt has grown from the size of a peanut to the size of a large strawberry at 11 weeks. It was a perfect image of our baby! Then the most magical part, which I was not expecting at all, was seeing "him" move "his" little arms and legs and even try to turn over! Tears instantly started flowing and all I could say was "that is amazing!". As we laid there and watched the movements, I kept thinking, "I wish you were already here!". I remember the doctor kept calling it a "he" and she said that "he" was very docile. We asked if she could determine the sex yet, but she said it was to early and she predicted that it was a boy. As we were leaving and saying our goodbyes to everyone, they all asked for her prediction and said that she is usually right! They are all so eager to know what it is.
As I close, I want to say that we could not have been happier with our experience with Dr. Dorsett and her staff. They made this whole journey about as pleasant as it could be. We would and will highly suggest her to anyone who must go thorough this process.
